Katsina Institute of Technology and Management (KITM) is one of the newer polytechnics in Northern Nigeria that quietly focuses on real, employable skills rather than theory alone. Located in Katsina State, the institute was set up to train young people in technical, vocational, and business fields that local industries actually need. For the 2026 academic session, KITM offers 18 National Diploma (ND) programmes and several Higher National Diploma (HND) options. Most ND programmes last two years (four semesters). Students who finish the ND with at least Lower Credit can proceed to HND in the same or related field. Part-time (evening) programmes are available in Accountancy, Business Administration, Computer Science, and Public Administration for people who work during the day.
Admission Requirements for 2026
You need a minimum JAMB UTME score of 100 to be eligible for screening. Competitive courses like Computer Science, Accountancy, and Electrical/Electronic Engineering usually require 140 or higher. You must have five O’Level credits in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings. Direct entry admission is available for ND holders with Upper Credit or Merit in related fields. Post-UTME screening is compulsory for all applicants. The institute normally conducts the screening in two batches, July/August and September/October.
