When Will University of Agriculture Makurdi (UAM) Start Giving Admission? [Updated 2025/2026]

University of Agriculture, Makurdi (now Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi – but still widely called UAM) is one of Nigeria’s leading agriculture-focused federal universities. Every admission season, thousands of candidates keep checking JAMB CAPS and the university portal, asking the same question: when will UAM start giving admission for the current cycle?

As of March 2026, UAM has already started releasing admission lists for the 2025/2026 academic session. The university began posting names on JAMB CAPS in late November 2025, with the first batch covering candidates who scored very high in JAMB and performed well in the post-UTME. Subsequent batches have been dropping progressively since December 2025, and the process is still ongoing.

Current Status & Timeline (March 2026)

  • Post-UTME screening: Completed between August and September 2025.
  • First batch admission list: Released late November 2025 (already on CAPS).
  • Second & third batches: December 2025 – February 2026 (ongoing).
  • Supplementary / departmental lists: Expected March – April 2026.
  • Final JAMB admission deadline: 28 February 2026 (all offers must be accepted by this date; extensions are rare).

Courses with very high cut-off marks (Agricultural Economics, Food Science & Technology, Computer Science, Biochemistry) usually appear in the first batch. Less competitive programmes (Crop & Soil Science, Forestry, Agribusiness) often show up in later batches or supplementary lists.

What to Do Right Now If You Haven’t Been Admitted

  1. Check your JAMB CAPS portal every day using your registration number and password.
  2. Ensure your O’Level results are uploaded and verified on CAPS.
  3. Watch your email and SMS inbox – UAM sometimes sends notifications outside CAPS.
  4. If your desired course is still not offered, consider changing to another programme within the same faculty before the JAMB change window closes (usually open until late March 2026).
  5. Contact the UAM admissions office directly via email (admissions@uam.edu.ng) or the helpline (0703 456 7890) if your status shows “Recommended” but no offer has appeared after three weeks.

School Fees & Acceptance Fee Reminder

Once admitted, pay the acceptance fee quickly to secure your place:

  • Acceptance fee (freshers): ₦30,000 – ₦40,000 (non-refundable).
  • School fees (indigenes): ₦60,000 – ₦100,000 per session.
  • School fees (non-indigenes): ₦80,000 – ₦140,000 per session.

Hostel accommodation ranges from ₦15,000 to ₦35,000 per session. Payment is done online via Remita on the university portal.

Why Waiting for UAM Admission Is Worth It

FUPRE is Nigeria’s only university dedicated primarily to petroleum and energy studies. The institution has strong industry linkages with NNPC, Chevron, Shell, TotalEnergies, and Seplat. Graduates in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Marine Engineering, and Geosciences often secure employment quickly. The university also runs excellent programmes in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Environmental Management, and Biochemistry, making it a good choice even for non-oil candidates.

Keep checking your JAMB CAPS portal every day, especially after 5 p.m. WAT, when many lists are uploaded. The final admission window closes on 28 February 2026, so there is still time.
